Position Summary

As a key member of the Family Office Services Team, the Managing Director is responsible for producing and reviewing complex estate and wealth planning deliverables, identifying proactive planning opportunities, and interpreting sophisticated estate planning documents and financial information for ultra-high-net-worth and multi-generational families.

The role serves as the firm’s senior estate planning technical resource — collaborating with Managing Directors and client teams on meeting preparation and execution, providing firm-wide support on tax and estate planning issues, publishing expert-level thought leadership, and delivering subject matter expertise and training to internal associates.


Core Responsibilities


Complex Estate & Wealth Planning Deliverables

  • Produce and review complex client estate and wealth planning deliverables, including estate flowcharts and comprehensive planning reports
  • Develop and review observations and recommendations on specific planning issues and strategies, with a focus on proactive opportunities
  • Build comprehensive wealth transfer plans incorporating input from Managing Directors, Client Service Associates, and the broader client cell team
  • Review, analyze, and summarize sophisticated estate planning documents
  • Guide Wealth Strategists in oversight of family entity administration and comprehensive family office services
  • Develop and maintain templates for estate planning reports, analyses, and deliverables with demonstrated excellence
  • Anticipate and proactively address client questions


Client Meeting Support & Technical Advisory

  • Collaborate with Managing Directors and internal client cell teams on specific deliverables, technical matters, and proactive strategies
  • Serve as estate planning technical resource in client, prospect, and advisor meetings
  • Participate in feedback and debrief meetings; take an active approach to continuous improvement


Firm-Wide Technical Resource & Thought Leadership

  • Provide support and clarity on technical issues related to tax and estate planning across the firm
  • Research, write, and publish high-quality articles on complex wealth transfer topics for professional journals, industry publications, and online platforms
  • Cultivate beneficial relationships with outside advisors through regular meetings and technical estate planning discussions
  • Review, develop, and maintain Family Office Services technical materials and educational content
  • Provide subject matter expertise and training opportunities to internal associates


Qualifications


Education & Credentials

  • College degree required; postgraduate JD, LLM, or MST strongly preferred
  • Professional designation of CPA, CFP, and/or CPWA preferred
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in estate and tax planning and/or fiduciary and trust planning and administration
  • Prior experience in strategic wealth planning for high-net-worth individuals and multi-generational families
  • In-depth knowledge of current legislative and case law changes in the estate planning area


Skills & Attributes

  • Strong analytical skills; ability to interpret estate planning documents, financial statements, and tax returns with exceptional attention to detail
  • Demonstrated excellence as a frequent author and presenter of complex estate planning strategies
  • Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to build worksheets for complex planning strategies
  • Ability to explain complex estate planning strategies in a client-friendly manner
  • Professional demeanor with the utmost respect for confidential matters
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively; detail-oriented, organized, and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
