Claims Trainer / Auditor

Non-Standard Auto

Coral Springs, FL

Onsite

Claims

The role

A non-standard auto carrier is creating a Claims Trainer / Auditor role to raise the quality and consistency of how its adjusters handle claims. It's a new, onsite position, and it combines three jobs: you build and run the training, you audit the files, and you act as the department's subject matter expert on non-standard auto. You sit at the point where audit findings become training. When a file review surfaces a skill gap or a compliance miss, you turn it into coaching, a job aid, or a curriculum change that fixes it.

The organization

Our client is a non-standard auto insurer with a growing claims operation. The role is onsite in Coral Springs, Florida.

What you'll own

  • Design, develop, and deliver training for non-standard auto adjusters: coverage interpretation, liability assessment, damage evaluation, and regulatory compliance
  • Audit files across the full range of non-standard auto claim types (BI, PD, PIP, COMP, COLL) for accuracy, coverage application, reserve adequacy, documentation quality, and adherence to state regulations
  • Turn audit results into action: spot skill gaps, performance trends, and compliance deficiencies, then build targeted training and coaching plans for individual adjusters and teams
  • Work with claims leadership to set and maintain QA standards, audit scorecards, and KPI frameworks tied to accuracy, cycle time, customer satisfaction, and severity management
  • Create and maintain the training library: onboarding curricula, reference guides, e-learning modules, job aids, and process documentation for non-standard auto
  • Serve as the department's SME on non-standard auto coverage, claims procedures, and applicable state statutes, and mentor adjusters through complex or escalated claims
  • Partner with operations, compliance, and IT so training reflects current workflows, system updates, and regulatory changes, including Guidewire adoption across the department
  • Prepare and present audit findings, training completion metrics, and quality trends to claims management
  • Run structured orientation for new claims staff and mentor them through their first 90 days
  • Track regulatory updates and emerging trends in non-standard auto so the training stays current

What we're looking for

  • 5 or more years handling non-standard auto claims, with real proficiency across BI, PD, PIP, Comprehensive, and Collision
  • Strong knowledge of non-standard auto policy forms, endorsements, exclusions, and the complexities of high-risk and non-admitted markets
  • Experience in claims training, QA, or auditing, with the ability to turn technical expertise into clear, usable learning for adjusters at every level
  • A working grasp of instructional design and adult learning: structured curricula, e-learning, and competency-based assessments
  • Familiarity with Florida auto-claims regulation, including PIP statutes (§627.736), bad-faith standards, and prompt-payment obligations
  • Strong writing and presentation skills across audiences, from front-line adjusters to senior leadership
  • Comfort with Microsoft Office and claims systems, and the ability to learn and then teach proprietary platforms
  • Analytical depth and attention to detail: read audit data, find the trend, recommend the fix
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Risk Management, Insurance, or a related field, or an equivalent mix of education and experience
  • An active Florida Adjuster's License (6-20 or 7-20), or willingness to obtain one within 90 days of hire

Nice to have

  • Guidewire ClaimCenter or InsuranceNow experience (intake, diary, reserves, payments, reporting) and the ability to be the department's Guidewire trainer
  • A prior hybrid SME / trainer / auditor role at a carrier or third-party administrator
  • Designations such as AIC, CPCU, or SCLA
  • CCC estimating or valuation platform experience in a training or audit setting
  • Formal instructional-design training (ADDIE, SAM) or an L&D certification (ATD CPTD)
