Key Responsibilities

Underwriting & Risk Assessment

  • Evaluate new and existing program opportunities within niche, specialty product lines, and multi-line trading structures.
  • Assess program submissions in line with Company underwriting guidelines and risk appetite, and ensure compliance with underwriting authority and referral processes.
  • Continuously monitor claims performance, loss ratios, and portfolio balance, and adjust underwriting strategies to optimize portfolio profitability.


Relationship management

  • Establish and manage relationships with key brokers and clients to facilitate business growth and drive underwriting premium towards the US$150 million target.
  • Serve as the key underwriting point of contact for assigned programs and participate in quarterly reviews, audits, and on-site visits as required.


Stakeholder Management:

  • Partner with the President and Head of Marketing to present strategic goals, performance results, and insights on the US portfolio.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including actuarial, portfolio management, and operations teams, to ensure a comprehensive understanding and execution of program business.


Financial Performance & Reporting:

  • Provide regular reports to senior management on the ongoing performance of the allocated programs and overall underwriting portfolio.


The Ideal Candidate

Experience:

  • 7 – 15 years of relevant insurance experience in the US Programs space within a carrier, MGA or broker.
  • Strong understanding of delegated authority structures, bordereaux analysis and program governance.
  • Experience in navigating complex risk environments and underwriting a variety of insurance products.


Skills:

  • Strong negotiation skills and experience in building relationships with key stakeholders, brokers, and clients.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret market data, loss trends, and pricing analytics.
  • Ability to clearly articulate underwriting rationale to key stakeholders, and specifically, 3rd party underwriting capacity.
