Group Head of FP&A


Summary

The Group Head of FP&A will be responsible for driving the FP&A function in and building out on its current capabilities with key deliverables for Strategic Leadership, Financial Planning, Business Partnering, Enterprise-Wide Performance Management, Team Development, Communication and Change Leadership.

Reporting directly into the Group CFO, whilst maintaining a close working relationship with key stakeholders, the role holder will be instrumental in developing the analytical capabilities of the business in order to drive commercial decision making and value creation.


Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership and Vision
  • Lead the strategic direction of the FP&A function, ensuring alignment with long-term growth objectives and capital management strategy.
  • Act as a key strategic advisor to the CFO and Executive Leadership Team, translating financial data and macroeconomic trends into actionable business strategy.
  • Drive the evolution of the FP&A framework to move beyond reporting towards predictive analytics, strategic foresight, and value creation.
  • Champion a culture of proactive insight — positioning FP&A as a strategic enabler that challenges and supports commercial decision-making across the Group.


Financial Planning and Business Partnering
  • Oversee the development of Group-wide financial plans (annual and multi-year), embedding strategic priorities, risk appetite, and capital allocation efficiency into planning cycles.
  • Lead scenario and sensitivity analyses that inform investment priorities, M&A evaluations, and long-term strategic choices.
  • Partner with Business Unit leaders to evaluate performance, identify opportunities for profitable growth, and influence strategic resource allocation decisions.
  • Ensure Group forecasts, budgets, and performance analytics are not only accurate and timely but strategically insightful and aligned with market and regulatory developments.


Enterprise-Wide Performance Management
  • Develop and maintain a robust performance management framework to monitor delivery against strategic and financial goals.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and performance dashboards that link operational results with strategic outcomes.
  • Proactively identify trends, risks, and value-creation levers to support informed Executive and Board-level discussions.
  • Collaborate closely with Treasury, Risk, and Corporate Strategy to align financial and capital planning with strategic imperatives and shareholder value creation.

 

Leadership and Team Development
  • Build and lead a high-performing FP&A team that combines financial expertise with strategic insight, analytical rigor, and business acumen.
  • Set a clear strategic vision for the function and empower managers and analysts to contribute innovative thinking and challenge conventional assumptions.
  • Foster a collaborative, learning-oriented culture focused on continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and professional development.
  • Act as a visible role model for leadership values — demonstrating integrity, vision, inclusivity, and performance excellence.


Strategic Communication and Influence
  • Prepare and present high-impact analyses and recommendations to the Executive Committee and Board, articulating financial narratives that drive strategic decision-making.
  • Translate complex financial insights into clear, actionable messages for non-financial stakeholders.
  • Represent the FP&A function externally as needed — engaging with auditors, investors, and strategic partners to articulate the Group’s financial strategy and performance story.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives that strengthen competitive position and operational resilience through enhanced financial insight and strategic planning.


Innovation and Change Leadership
  • Champion digital transformation and the adoption of advanced analytics, data visualization, and automation tools to modernize FP&A capabilities.
  • Anticipate and adapt to emerging markets, regulatory, and technological trends to keep financial planning at the forefront of best practice.
  • Lead change management initiatives that enhance the agility, scalability, and strategic influence of the finance function.
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, systems, and governance to deliver best-in-class decision support.


Skills
  • Wealth of experience in operating at strategic level impacting the function and the wider business
  • Detailed knowledge of and demonstrable FP&A experience in an international and matrix-led company – ideally within (Re)Insurance
  • Possess management skills and natural leadership to take ownership whilst being able to grow and develop members of the team and wider function
  • Strong track record of successful delivery working in a changing environment
  • Be able to create credibility within through insight, market understanding and a proactive manner
  • Visionary – able to identify how the client can differentiate itself from its competitors and create new opportunities
  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior management and Board members internally
  • Ability to see the bigger picture as well as having an eye for detail is important/essential

Experience
  • At least 15 years’ experience in Financial Planning and Analysis
  • Proven manager of successful teams
  • Track record in driving change involving data, systems and process
  • Success in enhancing organization financial planning and expense management through effective business partnering


Other
  • Willingness to travel on company business as required
  • Agility and flexible to react to business requirements / priorities
