Position Summary
We are a fast-growing financial advisory firm serving sophisticated, high-net-worth (HNW) and ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) clients. We provide comprehensive wealth management, tax, and estate planning strategies designed to optimize outcomes across complex financial lives.
We are seeking a Tax Director to lead our tax advisory function and deliver best-in-class tax strategy and compliance for our clients. This leadership role will oversee all aspects of tax planning, review, and preparation for individuals, families, and related entities.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and implementation of proactive tax strategies for HNW and UHNW individuals, families, and their associated entities (trusts, partnerships, S Corps, private foundations, etc.).
- Oversee and review the preparation of complex Federal, State, and Local tax returns for individuals and entities with diverse income sources and multi-state exposure.
- Provide integrated tax and estate planning advice in coordination with clients’ financial advisors, estate attorneys, and other professionals.
- Conduct in-depth tax projections and scenario analysis to optimize after-tax results aligned with long-term wealth objectives.
- Identify tax savings opportunities related to investments, charitable giving, stock options, real estate, and business ownership.
- Direct responses to IRS and state tax notices, audits, and correspondence.
- Oversee the growth and development of the tax department, including leading future hiring, training, and team structure decisions.
- Supervise and mentor tax staff, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and professional development.
- Maintain and enhance internal tax processes, leveraging Intuit ProConnect (or similar software), QuickBooks Online, and Microsoft Office tools.
- Stay current on emerging tax legislation, trends, and opportunities affecting HNW individuals.
Qualifications & Skills:
- 8+ years of progressive experience in tax planning and compliance, with a strong focus on HNW and UHNW individuals.
- CPA or EA required; MST or JD/LLM in Taxation preferred.
- Proven experience managing complex individual and fiduciary tax engagements.
- Proficiency with Intuit ProConnect, QuickBooks Online, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated leadership ability, with prior experience managing or mentoring tax staff.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and client communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment while managing multiple priorities.
- Deep understanding of current tax laws, wealth transfer strategies, and estate planning principles.
- Exceptional problem-solving and research skills, with the ability to translate technical tax concepts into actionable client strategies.
